Mushroom Forage with BVH

Sunday 1 May 2022 On Sale Now
Our Mushroom Tours are back during Autumn and for an intimate group of 20 guests we have a wonderful Sunday treat planned with the team at Berrima Vault House.

Start the day at 10am in Penrose State Forest where you meet local Forager Joanne Dodd to learn about local mushroom species – Slippery Jacks and Saffron Milk Caps – and receive our take home guide. After you harvest your mushrooms we send you back to the historical village of Berrima to enjoy your wild food haul and a two course lunch by the roaring fires of Berrima Vault House.

Sundays have become a local favourite in the Lodge thanks to Tommy’s famous English Sunday Roast. The line-up alternates each week but you’ll try local juicy roast meats, Yorkshire puddings, truffled cabbage slaw, roast potatoes, carrots and broccolini. Warm smiles and full bellies are guaranteed as you cosy up downstairs beside the fire.

And for our Autumn wild food hunters, Tommy is going to take a few of your wild pine mushrooms and create a lovely lunch starter so you can enjoy the flavour of this local seasonal fungi. Add in a complimentary glass of local cool climate wine followed by a 2 course meal and you have the perfect foodie feast Sunday. These will sell fast at $120 per person, all inclusive. Numbers are strictly limited.

Self-Drive meeting our local forager at the Penrose State Forest, Southern Highlands at 10.00am and finishing by noon. Please bring own water bottle, warm jacket, camera and container to take home any extras mushrooms
